What I love most about weddings is the laughter throughout the day, closely followed by being witness to a couple assembling and enjoying their perfect day. Traditional weddings, alternative weddings, family weddings, barn weddings, town hall weddings, nerdy weddings.. yes nerdy… have all got a sprinkle or a heap of personality to make a wedding theirs. I love seeing themes come to life and colour schemes weave among the details beautifully. Gemma and Julian had one of those weddings where I could barely put down the camera for the abundance of personal touches. I mentioned nerdy weddings – for a very good reason! As a self confessed nerd I was overjoyed when Gemma approached me to photograph their wedding mentioning a theme to include Harry Potter and all of the various Sci-Fi programmes they enjoy to take place at a beautiful town hall – YES! Count me in!
We started off the day in the quirky George Hotel in Bewdley where the ladies got their glam on, and the boys got suited and booted at the couples home nearby. Afterwards the majestic chariot aka the family business’ coach arrived in style to take the gorgeous bride to the venue – Kidderminster town hall which is basically a building crammed with history, amazing rooms and a great atmosphere for a wedding. The relaxed ceremony was held in a gorgeous room and after the legal bit off we went to throw confetti, visit the local arts festival that had set up outside and take what might have been one of the most disturbing photos of my career – bride with the Nosey Parkas, and a quick look at the lego stall.
Gorgeous persoanl touches
The cake along with all the decorations were handmade by the bride adding another element of personal touches. Their gorgeous children filled the room with the sounds of laughter and fun. Following a gorgeous three course meal the speeches went ahead without a hitch, highlight of which was the groom glowing red during one of the funniest best man speeches I’ve heard.
A relaxed visit to the park with the gorgeous new Mr & Mrs Phillips was in order to get some shots amongst the wildflowers and the bandstand lit by the gorgeous evening light of summer. I have to mention the bridesmaids on this one – they were absolutely epic. What an incredible bunch of girls supporting their bride, these girls were more like sisters than cousins. Lucky ladies indeed!
Thanks so much for having us, we absolutely had a ball. Wishing you all of the love and luck for the future xxxxx
