Some people will tell you that you can’t be both a freelance copywriter and a fiction writer. “The worlds of branding and literature don’t mix!” The naysayers will cry, pitchforks in hand. “You can’t have your copy cake and eat it, you word-slinging, gin-swilling, grammatically-fastidious monster.”
Thing is, they do mix. And I am both of those things. We live in the golden age of the dual career and everybody and their mum has a side hustle. Our Instagram feeds are rife with chemists who bake, accountants who teach stand-up paddleboarding and dog-groomers who illustrate children’s books. You can’t be all things to all people but you can definitely be two things to two separate audiences.
